What is the difference between LCD panel and LCD module?

The primary part of an LCD display is an LCD panel, or liquid crystal display. It is a flat panel with two glass panels layered on top of small liquid crystal cells. The crystals align and alter the amount of light that passes through them when an electric current is applied, creating an image that can be seen.

On the other hand, an LCD module is an LCD panel packaged as a standalone unit with extra parts such electronics, backlighting, connectors, and a controller board. An LCD module basically has everything an LCD display needs to work, which makes it simpler to incorporate into a product.

To sum up, an LCD module consists of the panel as well as additional parts needed to operate the display, whereas an LCD panel is only the flat panel display itself.
